According to Breitbart News, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) were seeking four illegal aliens suspected of crimes who fled from Delaney Hall on June 12.
The following day, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and FBI agents apprehended one of the illegal immigrant escapees, Joel Enrique Sandoval-Lopez, and detained another, Joan Sebastian Castaneda-Lozada, on June 15.
Surprisingly, DHS officers learned that Castaneda-Lozada attempted to turn himself in to the New Jersey State Police at their office in Bridgeton, New Jersey, on June 13. Although Castaneda-Lozada was wanted by the FBI, state police declined to take him into jail due to the sanctuary policy in place.
On June 15, Castaneda-Lozada surrendered to ICE and FBI officials in Millville, New Jersey.
“Disturbingly, Joan Sebastian Castaneda-Lozada tried to turn himself in to local authorities and was turned away because of the state’s sanctuary policies that prohibit law enforcement from working with ICE,” a senior DHS official said. “Thankfully, this criminal alien has now been arrested and is no longer a threat to Americans.”
ICE and the FBI continue to seek public assistance in locating the two remaining illegal immigrant escapees, Franklin Norberto Bautista-Reyes and Andres Pineda-Mogollon. The FBI is offering a cash reward of $10,000 for information leading to their arrest.
