Houston, TX is in for a weather change as a cold front is set to sweep through Southeast Texas overnight. After a warm Monday with temperatures reaching the mid-70s, cooler temperatures are expected for the rest of the week. Commuters should be prepared for potential visibility issues on Monday morning due to patchy fog overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, we can expect Monday’s temperature to reach a high of around 76°F. However, as a cold front approaches, we will experience a significant drop in temperature late Monday night into early Tuesday. By Tuesday morning, temperatures will dip into the mid-40s. Additionally, breezy winds will persist throughout the day, keeping conditions cool.

On New Year’s Day, we can expect sunny skies and a high temperature near 60°F, accompanied by calm winds. As the evening approaches, temperatures will drop into the low 40s, creating a chilly but dry night for those celebrating outdoors. It’s important for drivers to be aware of potential fog on Wednesday night, which could cause reduced visibility on major roadways like I-10 and I-45.

Rain is expected to make a comeback on Thursday evening through Friday morning, with a 30% chance of showers predicted. The temperatures will continue to hover in the low 60s throughout the weekend. It’s advisable for residents to keep an umbrella within reach as we head into the latter part of the week and stay updated with any changes in the weather conditions.

Be aware of potentially reduced visibility when traveling during the late-night and early-morning hours, and make sure to plan your commute accordingly. If you’re planning to host an outdoor New Year’s gathering, take comfort in the fact that the weather will be cooler but still dry, providing favorable conditions for your event.
