On Tuesday, law enforcement officials in Hannibal, Missouri apprehended a St. Louis man for speeding. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle he was operating had been reported stolen.

On Tuesday, the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County pressed charges against Oday J. Elayyan, a 28-year-old from St. Louis, for tampering with a motor vehicle. An alien arrest warrant was issued by the Department of Homeland Security.

On Monday, July 1, at around 11:17 p.m., a Hannibal Police Department officer pulled over a speeding vehicle on U.S. 61 near Fair Oaks. The vehicle in question had been reported stolen from Ohio. Elayyan was apprehended without any resistance and charged accordingly.

The U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Office in St. Louis was notified regarding Elayyan’s case. It was reported that he had entered the United States unlawfully through Mexico. A bond of $10,000 was set for his tampering charges.

According to a press release issued by the Hannibal Police Department, Elayyan will be taken into custody by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for removal proceedings under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
