A stolen vehicle was found after a police chase that began in Mississippi and concluded in Alabama, resulting in a violent crash that ejected all four occupants.

The truck was reported stolen early Friday morning after leaving the crossroads of Jemison Mill Road and Highway 12. Later that evening, just before 6:00 p.m., deputies discovered the stolen vehicle on Cal-Koloa Road in Lowndes. When a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver refused to stop and fled on Highway 12, crossing into Alabama.

To bring the pursuit to a conclusion, Lamar County deputies deployed stop sticks near Vernon, Alabama’s city boundaries. The driver tried to dodge the road spikes by swerving off the road and hitting a culvert, forcing the vehicle to roll several times. The crash ejected all four occupants from the vehicle.

Emergency responders flew one person to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, while the other three were transferred to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus with minor injuries. None of the injuries were deemed life threatening.

Authorities confirmed that all four occupants would face charges in both Mississippi and Alabama while the investigation is continuing.

Officials thanked the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, the Vernon Police Department, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency for their assistance with the case.
