On Wednesday, police arrested a documented gang member, who had previously been charged with murder, following a shooting and chase near Atlanta University Center.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., the authorities were alerted about a shooting incident inside a convenience store located on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard.

Upon their arrival, the officers discovered a victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Upon reviewing surveillance footage, the authorities have identified four individuals who were seen driving a blue Tesla.

On Wednesday, the Atlanta police took 18-year-old Kentavious Campbell into custody regarding this shooting.

According to jail records, he was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, attempting to flee or elude a police officer while driving, possession of a firearm during a felony, reckless driving, and willfully obstructing law enforcement officers.

In an exclusive report by Michael Seiden from Channel 2, surveillance footage captured the victim on his way to the store when he was suddenly approached by four suspects in a Tesla. Although the video did not have any audio, it showed a potential altercation between the victim and the suspects. The footage also revealed that two of the suspects got out of the car while carrying guns.

After the shooting incident, the victim was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Thankfully, it is anticipated that he will recover from his injuries. Following the shooting, the police were able to locate and apprehend the culprits after a short pursuit.

According to court records, Campbell has a history of multiple arrests on various felony charges, and investigators have identified him as one of the suspects. In July 2023, he was taken into custody for several offenses, including murder, and booked into jail.

According to court documents, he was set free from prison in January after prosecutors dismissed the charges against him due to insufficient evidence.

According to jail records, he managed to avoid getting into any trouble until his arrest in April on charges of felony theft and gang-related activities. After spending two days in jail, he was granted bond by a judge.

When contacted by Channel 2 Action News, the Atlanta Police Department declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.

According to reports, Channel 2 Action News contacted the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office and received confirmation that they are aware of the incident and are presently working on a statement.
