Clementino Olmos Lopez, Jr., a resident of Eustace, Texas, has received a 30-year prison sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for being in possession of a controlled substance. The sentence was handed down by Judge Scott McKee of the 392nd Judicial District Court.
According to a press release from the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office, on January 29, 2024, Eustace Police Chief Dan Huckabee conducted a traffic stop on Lopez’s vehicle north of FM 316 due to expired registration and lack of insurance. During the stop, Chief Huckabee discovered a beer in the passenger seat. As a safety measure, he performed a pat-down on Lopez and found a clear crystal substance in his pocket, which later tested positive for methamphetamine. Additionally, a black bag containing a glass pipe, syringes, and a powdery substance was found in the vehicle.
At the time of his arrest, Lopez was on parole for a 50-year sentence for Burglary of Habitation in Denton County. The Henderson County District Attorney’s Office revealed that Lopez also had previous felony convictions in Dallas County for Tampering with Evidence, Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle, Escape, Felony Theft, and Forgery. Assistant District Attorney Daynah Fallwell represented the state in this case.
