According to Indiana State Police, three men from Indianapolis were arrested for leading the police on a high-speed chase across several southern Indiana counties. The incident took place in Louisville, Ky.

On Friday around 5:30 p.m., a trooper attempted to stop a pickup truck for speeding at 87 mph in a 70 mph zone on I-65 South, as reported by ISP. The pickup truck pulled over near mile marker 12, but immediately fled as soon as the trooper approached the vehicle.

Police reported that the truck exited at Sellersburg before making a swift turn and returning to the interstate, this time heading northbound. Throughout the pursuit, which at times exceeded 100 miles per hour, the trooper kept pace with the vehicle. Additional officers joined the chase and attempted to deploy Stop Stick tire deflators, but the truck driver managed to evade them.

According to police, the driver and front-seat passenger of the truck were seen throwing an unknown substance out of the windows. Additionally, the vehicle had dealer plates that were reported stolen. Upon further investigation, officers discovered that the pickup truck had been stolen from Westfield, Indiana just last month.

According to the Indiana State Police (ISP), the pursuit carried on across Scott and Jackson counties. The truck proceeded about five miles south of Columbus, Indiana, where it crossed the median and began driving on the wrong side of the road before taking the Columbus exit. During the exit, the truck collided with a car that was entering the highway, causing minor damage. Fortunately, no one was injured inside the car. The truck then re-entered I-65 North and continued to drive away.

After the deployment of Stop Sticks near mile marker 81, the police were finally able to put a stop to the pickup truck’s reckless driving. The vehicle came to a halt approximately a mile after the deployment, and the authorities apprehended the three men inside. They were subsequently taken to Clark County Jail for further proceedings.

James Vinson, who is 35 years old, faced multiple charges including resisting law enforcement, vehicle theft, criminal recklessness with a vehicle, false informing, and possession of marijuana. In addition, Vinson had several warrants from Marion County, Indiana, and was also identified as a habitual traffic violator.

Cedrick Gleaves, 29, and Carl Fulmore, 23, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
