The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has recently provided an update on the tragic shooting incident involving a 16-year-old boy in Tomball.

A tragic incident occurred in Tomball, Texas, where a 16-year-old boy lost his life in a shooting early Monday morning. Authorities have confirmed that his older brother will face charges in connection with the incident.

Investigators say that the teen’s 17-year-old brother, Rhyder Tettleton, is currently in custody and may face manslaughter charges.

Teen shot to death in Tomball

Tragedy struck on Monday morning when a 16-year-old boy lost his life to a fatal gunshot wound in a barn at a residence in the Tomball area.

The shooting took place at around 3:30 a.m. in the 19900 block of Stone Creek Court.

According to the sheriff’s office, there were six teenagers present in the home at the time, with no adults around. It is alleged that they were drinking, and at some point, someone introduced a gun into the situation.

According to investigators, the gun accidentally discharged a little while later, hitting the 16-year-old in the chest. The sheriff’s office has stated that it was the 17-year-old brother who was handling the gun at the time.

Tragically, despite the teenagers’ efforts to administer first aid and call for emergency assistance, the young boy succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The origin of the firearm remains uncertain.

According to authorities, the boy’s parents were dealing with a personal matter outside of their home when the tragic incident occurred. It is currently unlikely that they will face any charges in connection with their son’s death.
