A routine vehicle stop by US Border Patrol agents resulted in a big drug seizure after a K9 unit discovered narcotics, yielding 17.9 pounds of cocaine and 3.7 pounds of methamphetamine. According to the US Border Patrol, the driver is now facing federal accusations such as possession of prohibited narcotics, conspiracy to distribute, and unlawful importation of a controlled substance. A K9 alert at the Highway 67 checkpoint in Marfa, Texas, revealed more than 320 pounds of marijuana, prompting the arrest of the driver on charges of possession of a prohibited drug. According to the department, in just 24 hours, the US Border Patrol and its partners recovered almost 1,000 pounds of drugs worth more than $1.2 million.
