A video captured Monday morning shows federal authorities pulling a man from his vehicle and detaining him in Chicago’s northwest suburbs.

According to the Elgin Area Rapid Response Team, a volunteer network that monitors immigration enforcement action, multiple unmarked vehicles and plainclothes federal agents were spotted on McLean Boulevard at approximately 6:50 a.m. near the former Elgin Mall and Elgin Fresh Market.

Witnesses reported that the agents wore tactical vests and were younger than cops seen in previous operations, probably to avoid drawing attention.

A short time later, at 7:30 a.m., federal authorities reportedly removed a man from a vehicle near Gertrude and Washburn streets. According to the volunteer organization, eight agents in five unmarked cars encircled the man’s vehicle, broke a window, and directed others to leave. According to the volunteers, the authorities did not provide a judicial warrant and took two persons into custody.

The agents did not disclose any identifying information, according to the group, and the cars utilized had no official markings.

Federal authorities, including ICE, have yet to comment on Monday’s events; however, FOX 32 has contacted us.

The Elgin Area Rapid Response Team said it is working with the families of those jailed to give legal and emotional assistance.

A protest is scheduled for Saturday in response to this incident, which comes as President Donald Trump has stated that he will increase immigration enforcement measures in Democratic-controlled cities, including Chicago, following countrywide protests and violence in Los Angeles.
