Three men from Washington, D.C., were sentenced to prison for their roles in a major drug trafficking operation centered in the Trinidad neighborhood of Northeast Washington. According to a press releaseĀ from the United States Attorney’s Office, Davon Cunningham, 35, also known as “Tank” or “Kevin,” was sentenced to 126 months, Roosevelt Richardson, 49, to 66 months, and Arnez Mack, 22, to a year and a day.

Judge James E. Boasberg, who oversaw the case, not only sentenced the trio but also set terms for supervised release following their prison stay. The smuggling ring they were part of was responsible for moving approximately 468 kilograms of fentanyl, fentanyl analogue, and cocaine base in the area. Court documents revealed these drugs were distributed prominently on and around the 1100 block of Raum Street, NE. Law enforcement described a series of nearly daily hand-to-hand

Cunningham’s illicit operations lasted from October 2023 until February 2024, and he sold fentanyl and cocaine to undercover cops, including a 520-gram amount of fentanyl and a weapon. Meanwhile, Richardson traded fentanyl and other narcotics directly to agents ten times during the same time period, and DNA evidence linked him to firearms discovered during a raid on the group’s stash home. Mack, the group’s youngest member, officially admitted to his role in the drug ring and was found with cocaine base and a .45 caliber Glock during a police confrontation.

The successful conclusion of this case can be credited to a broad coalition of law enforcement bodies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Washington Division, the Metropolitan Police Department’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit, and the FBI Washington Field Office’s Violent Crimes Task Force. The apprehension and subsequent sentencing of these men serves as part of the larger Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces’ (OCDETF) mandate to deal with high-level drug prosecutors, including Assistant United States Attorneys Nihar Mohanty and Daniel Seidel, as well as Criminal Division Trial Attorneys Christina Taylor and Gaelin Bernstein.
