A woman accused by an Ohio Kohl’s of being a serial shoplifter was arrested last week after officers discovered stolen retail items in her vehicle, according to police.

According to a Macedonia Police Department press release, officers responded to a call from the local Kohl’s about a woman suspected of being involved in an “organized crime theft investigation.”

When cops arrived at the site, they noticed the woman perusing the department store, but she subsequently left without purchasing anything, according to police.

During their investigation, Macedonia police discovered that the woman has many active arrest warrants in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Kohl’s accused her of being responsible for more than $51,000 in thefts from stores in both states last year, according to authorities.

Woman had stolen items in vehicle, police say

The suspect was not named in the news release, but a Macedonian police official recognized her as Ashley Hoysack. According to Fox 8 and WOIO, authorities pulled her over on Friday, June 27, as she attempted to exit the parking lot and arrested her.

According to authorities, the back of her vehicle contained approximately $1500 worth of stuff stolen from surrounding establishments.

A police official informed USA TODAY that Hoysack was charged with felony possession of criminal instruments, engaging in a pattern of criminal behavior, and receiving stolen property. She’s also facing minor charges.

Hoysack was released from jail on a medical furlough “due to an untreated medical issue” but had a court date on June 30.

Macedonia is a city located approximately 24 miles from Cleveland.
