A woman recently shared how she stood up against a dealership that attempted to charge her $500 for a basic request, by letting them know she would call her dad.

One driver shared a clever six-word response that helped them avoid additional charges. Aleya Amini, a young motorist, was fully prepared to go all out and purchase a brand-new car. However, after picking it up, she had one small modification in mind that she wanted to make.

She shared a video on TikTok where she discussed her recent car purchase. However, she mentioned that she wanted to remove the decal from the car’s bodywork after a few months.

The sales representative warned her that opting for that option might result in a hefty bill of up to $500 for the necessary repairs.

Aleya was taken aback when she exclaimed, “I can’t believe I’m at the dealership and when I asked them to remove the decal, the guy responded, saying it could cost up to $500.”

In the comments, the resident of Dallas shared that while the decal on the car depicted the Texas flag, she would have preferred a simple paint job instead.

A commenter concurred with her viewpoint, stating, “Putting them on in the first place was unnecessary.”

I always make it a point to remove them.

“I prefer not to have any identifiable markers on my car.”

Aleya agreed with this by stating, “Exactly.”

Luckily, she managed to resolve the issue by threatening to make a phone call.

She playfully remarked, “Don’t make me bring my dad into this.”

“I can’t believe my dad thinks that’s too much,” I exclaimed, even though I’m a grown woman now.

The online community quickly rallied behind her, showing their support on social media.

One person expressed their experience by saying, “In the past, I have always made sure that the sale is dependent on the removal of their badges.”

There was never any pushback. One person shared a clever trick to get dealers to comply with their requests in just six words.

They expressed the following sentiment: “I often remind myself that if you are not willing to do it, there will always be another dealer who is.”

Aleya’s knowledge of her rights saved her from unnecessary service fees.

According to an expert from MotorBiscuit, there is no need for individuals to unintentionally advertise for a dealership.

When you purchase a new or used vehicle, sellers often attempt to place their branding all over it.

It is absolutely acceptable to request the removal of all dealer branding either before or after making a purchase.
