A woman’s routine ride home quickly turned into a terrifying ordeal when she was robbed at gunpoint by someone she knew.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s District 1 is investigating the incident, which occurred last Wednesday near Virginia & Eichelberger.

At around 2:30 p.m., the 24-year-old victim was getting a ride from a 27-year-old man when he unexpectedly passed her destination. This sudden detour made her nervous, prompting her to place her firearm under her arm for protection.

The situation soon escalated. According to a statement from the SLMPD, “the suspect pulled the car over at Virginia & Eichelberger, grabbed her firearm, pointed it at her, and demanded she get out.” The woman complied, and the suspect drove away with her belongings, including the firearm. Fortunately, she was not physically harmed during the robbery.

No physical injuries were reported by the victim.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the suspect has been apprehended or if the stolen items, including the firearm, have been recovered.

The SLMPD is actively investigating the robbery. Further details on the suspect and the motive behind the crime have not been released. Community members with any information are encouraged to come forward to assist with the investigation. Tips can be submitted directly to the police or anonymously through local crime tip hotlines.
