The family of the woman who was savagely attacked in Dickson, Tennessee, is on the hunt for the heroic pair from Alabama who rescued her from a burning home on Monday.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the 1200 block of North Charlotte Street in Dickson after receiving reports of a house fire. While recovering from her injuries in a hospital bed, Tessa recounted the events of Monday night to her mother, Tina Trotter.

Tina expressed her disbelief, stating that he had promised her that he would never do something like that, and to have done it in front of their children was particularly hurtful. She struggled to come to terms with the situation and make sense of it.

After being hospitalized at VUMC, Tessa is currently on the road to recovery. However, due to the severity of the accident, she is now paralyzed from the waist down and has suffered from third-degree burns. Tina, Tessa’s mother, attributes her daughter’s survival to two factors – her tenacious fighting spirit and the bravery of two bystanders who happened to be passing by. As the duo from Alabama were checking out an item on Facebook Marketplace, they noticed the smoke and immediately rushed inside to extinguish the fire that was engulfing Tessa.

Tina expressed her gratitude by saying, “God bless you, and I will contact you as soon as my family discovers your identity. Our family is incredibly thankful to all of you as my loved one wouldn’t be here today without your help.”

According to reports, Mowel was apprehended by law enforcement officials at the site of the fire even as firefighters were battling the flames. He stands accused of several charges, including attempted murder, domestic assault, and aggravated arson. Currently, he is being held in the Dickson County Jail on a bond of $765,000.

A  GoFundMe account has been established by the family to assist in covering Tessa’s medical expenses.
