An incredible rescue took place on the California coast, where a kite surfer was stranded and in desperate need of help. Fortunately, a helicopter flying overhead spotted the message “HELP” spelled out in rocks on the sand, leading to the surfer’s safe rescue.

According to a statement released by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection on Monday, a man whose identity remains unknown was marooned on a remote beach south of the Davenport Landing in Santa Cruz, California. The location is considered difficult to access, making the man’s situation all the more perilous.

According to officials, the surfer’s situation was becoming more severe as the ocean tide continued to rise.

On June 9, a kite surfer found themselves stranded and in need of help. To alert rescuers, they cleverly used rocks to spell out the word “HELP” at the highest point of the beach, near the cliffs. Luckily, a private helicopter spotted the message and called emergency services, allowing the stranded individual to be rescued.

According to officials, the man was airlifted from the beach by a helicopter from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Fortunately, he did not require any medical attention.

When someone is stranded, spelling out “HELP” or “SOS” is a popular method to attract attention and be rescued.

The U.S. Coast Guard reported in April that three sailors were rescued from a secluded Pacific Island where they had been stranded for over a week. The sailors had written the word “HELP” with palm leaves on the white sand beach, which led to their successful rescue.

A group of sailors in their 40s were saved from Pikelot Atoll, which is situated among the outer islands of the State of Yap in the Federated States of Micronesia. Their identities, however, remain undisclosed.
