7th Graders Protest Principal’s Decision by Baking Tampon Cookies

Tampons play a crucial role, especially for young girls who may experience unexpected periods while at school. There is a growing movement to urge schools to offer sanitary products free of charge, a step that would greatly benefit girls from low-income backgrounds who frequently miss school due to limited access to these essential products.

One middle school faced a situation where girls were fighting for access to sanitary products in the school bathrooms. Unfortunately, their request was dismissed by the principal. However, instead of giving up, these determined girls decided to take a more creative approach to make their voices heard.

Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, recently shared a concerning incident involving a friend’s 7th grader. The students at this school had taken the initiative to advocate for free tampons in the bathroom. However, their request was denied by the male principal, who claimed that they would “abuse the privilege.” This incident highlights the importance of addressing menstrual health needs and ensuring equal access to menstrual products for all individuals.

Undeterred, the students organized a unique form of protest by baking cookies in the shape of tampons to convey their message. The cookies, skillfully crafted, were not only visually striking but also served as a powerful symbol of their cause.

The idea was absolutely loved by Twitter users, although it is unclear what the principal’s reaction was.

“I absolutely adore kids these days,” expressed one user. “Back in my day, we would have never even dared to utter the word ‘tampon’ out loud.”

“Every generation is increasingly embracing feminism in their approach to raising children. What was once simply encouraging a career like becoming a doctor has now evolved to include advocating for basic needs like access to tampons.”

One person commented, saying, “She and all the girls in the school should unite and decide that whenever they need a tampon, they should ignore everyone else and go directly to the principal to ask for one.”

One person made a playful comment, suggesting that the girls should prove that they are not taking advantage of the free tampons by returning them to the principal once they are done using them.

A user raised an interesting question regarding the abuse of sanitary pads. They asked if there is a high street value for them, if people would overdose on them or use them excessively instead of more suitable options like light pads. The user even jokingly mentioned the possibility of sanitary pads becoming a gateway to using DivaCups.
