Good afternoon, everyone! A strong cold front continues to move through northern Florida, bringing heavy showers and thunderstorms. Locally heavy rain and thunder are moving eastward, soaking areas from Cedar Key to Jacksonville.

The bigger story lies behind the front, where unseasonably cold air is expected to push in overnight, impacting much of the Southeast, Gulf Coast, and northern Florida. Temperatures in the low to mid-30s are reaching far enough south to prompt frost advisories and freeze warnings for most of the Florida Panhandle and northern Florida tonight into tomorrow morning.

In addition, frost and freeze warnings and watches are in effect from parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and into the southeastern corner of North Carolina. Temperatures in these areas are expected to drop below freezing overnight.

Looking ahead, we are entering a very cold pattern over the next couple of weeks, with more waves of unseasonably cold, arctic air expected in mid-December. The chances of snow could also rise in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast during this time.
