A woman from Arlington has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for her involvement in a conspiracy to traffic narcotics across the state.
Linette Rodriguez-Potter, aged 46, received her sentence on Tuesday for her alleged involvement in a conspiracy to import 3.422 kilograms (approximately 7.55 pounds) of 100% pure methamphetamine.
According to court records, Potter made an attempt to cross the border from Mexico into the U.S. on July 25, 2020. However, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers referred him for secondary inspection.
CBP officers found seven packages of methamphetamine hydrochloride after conducting a thorough search of the vehicle.
During the investigation, authorities discovered conversations on the suspect’s cell phone with an alleged co-conspirator named Sally Renae Smith. In these conversations, the two individuals discussed their plans to meet at a motel in Del Rio and engage in the trafficking of narcotics throughout Texas.
Rodriguez-Potter, Smith, and their co-defendants, Joshua Keith Stewart and Stetson Lee Spearman, all admitted their guilt in the conspiracy charge.
Smith received a prison sentence of 292 months, equivalent to around 24 years, on February 22. Similarly, Stewart was sentenced to 235 months, approximately 19.5 years, on October 4.
Spearman’s sentencing is scheduled for March 2025.
