In the early hours of Thursday, a man was fatally shot on a street in the Bronx. According to the police, they recovered a scoped air rifle in close proximity to the incident.

A 40-year-old individual sustained a gunshot wound to the torso in the vicinity of E. 175th St. and Monroe Ave. at approximately 7:30 a.m., according to the police.

The victim was swiftly taken to St. Barnabas Hospital by medics, but unfortunately, he did not survive. The authorities are currently working to determine the identity of the victim.

As investigators examined the crime scene, they discovered a break-action pellet gun with a damaged scope lying on the ground. The weapon in question resembled an air rifle.

Near the crime scene, two bullet holes were observed in the front windshield of a silver Lincoln sedan.

After the shooting on Thursday, a woman from the Bronx shared with the Daily News that she was visiting her mother, who lives just two blocks away from the crime scene. She expressed her concern about the high levels of violent crime in the neighborhood.

The 66-year-old woman, who requested to stay unidentified, expressed her disgust, saying, “This is appalling. It happens every day. Innocent individuals are tragically killed on a regular basis.”

No one has been arrested so far.
