A 90-year-old woman experienced a devastating blow to her face when she and her son became victims of a hit-and-run incident.

While driving along the Southwest Freeway at Westpark on Monday afternoon, the victims, who preferred to remain anonymous, were involved in a collision with a pickup truck.

The minivan’s passenger side, where the driver’s 90-year-old mother was seated, was struck again by the truck.

Eyewitness News spoke to the minivan driver who recounted the incident saying, “He hit me from the freeway and ran. I immediately reported to the police that he hit me and fled the scene.”

The victims pursued the truck until it reached a parking lot at an office building on Westpark. It was there that they recount the truck suddenly started reversing towards them.

The minivan driver expressed, “I’m returning swiftly and moving with speed.”

The minivan driver and the truck driver, identified as Avery Davis by the police, eventually stepped out of their vehicles. However, the minivan driver became alarmed when Davis allegedly started reaching into his waistband, prompting the minivan driver to call the police.

He expressed concern, suggesting that perhaps the individual in question was armed.

As the victim was speaking on the phone, he recounted how Davis abruptly entered his van and forcefully yanked the keys out of the ignition.

“My mom said, ‘Hey, don’t get the keys. Don’t get the keys,'” he recounted.

According to the witness, Davis allegedly punched his mother in the face during the incident. Upon the arrival of the police, Davis was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

The officers discovered oxycodone in his possession, leading to an additional charge. Despite the alleged harm he inflicted upon his family, the minivan driver expressed no ill feelings towards him.

“I pray for him,” he said.

Davis has posted his $31,000 bond and has been released from jail.
