In a tragic turn of events, a 19-year-old man who had previously survived a school shooting at Timberview High School in Arlington in 2021, was fatally shot on Monday evening in the parking lot of an Arlington apartment complex.

Here’s what we know:  Police responded to a shooting call in the 2400 block of Laurelwood Drive just before 6 p.m. on Monday.

When authorities arrived, they discovered the victim lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. They transferred him to a neighboring hospital, where he eventually passed away.

Zacchaeus Selby-Mukum, a 19-year-old, was the victim.

Witnesses reported hearing an altercation just before gunshots rang out, although they did not witness the shooting itself.

No arrests were made.

“We use that term to describe any kind of illicit activity that could be is drug sales sales of any illegal contraband., anything like that. We do believe that it’s related to that kind of activity. We’re just not prepared to explain what that is until we complete our investigation,” said Arlington Police Sgt. Alex Rosado. “We’re looking for witnesses. We’re getting warrants for cell phones and canvassing the area for any Ring-type doorbell video to see what we can find. And right now, we’re still in the process of doing all of that.”

While there is currently no evidence linking Monday night’s shooting to the 2021 Timberview High School shooting, the police are not ruling out any possibilities.

2021 Timberview High School Shooting

Once upon a time, in a land far away, there was a captivating tale waiting to be told.

In 2021, Mansfield Timberview High School experienced a school shooting, with Selby being the target.

According to prosecutors, Simpkins and Selby were engaged in a fierce altercation in the classroom during the trial.

Simpkins then retrieved a gun from his waistband and discharged it in the direction of the student who had assaulted him. Selby sustained two additional gunshot wounds as he lay on the floor in the hallway.

Despite their injuries, Selby, another student, and a teacher all managed to survive.

Selby testified at Simpkins’ trial.
