A Florida man was apprehended on Tuesday following a vehicle pursuit that spanned several counties in central Ohio. The incident took place in Delaware.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) reported that the pursuit originated from an alert for a 2024 Toyota RAV4 that was reported stolen. The vehicle was last seen driving on State Route 95 in Richland County and had previously been involved in other pursuits in different jurisdictions. OSHP was then called upon to initiate the chase.

Upon receiving the alert, an OSHP Mt. Gilead post trooper spotted the RAV4 driving south on SR-95 in Knox County. Despite attempts to stop the vehicle, the RAV4 ignored the trooper’s commands and continued driving. Due to the reckless driving and potential danger to the public, the trooper made the decision to cancel the pursuit as the RAV4 headed towards Mt. Vernon.

As the pursuit continued, an OSHP helicopter joined in and spotted the RAV4 driving on Interstate 71 from Morrow County to Delaware and Franklin counties. While the troopers followed behind, they refrained from using their sirens, with the helicopter keeping a close eye on the car.

According to OSHP, as the RAV4 exited I-71 onto State Route 315 southbound, troopers attempted to use stop sticks near the Ackerman Road exit. Despite this, the vehicle continued driving south on SR-315 and eventually exited onto Interstate 670 West before returning to I-71 South.

While the troopers kept a discreet distance, the OSHP helicopter kept tabs on the RAV4 as it made its way towards Green County on I-71. The driver of the RAV4 attempted to evade another set of stop sticks and veered off the left side of the road, ultimately hitting the back of a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado after swerving back into the southbound lanes. The RAV4 then came to a stop after driving off the right side of the road.

Authorities have arrested Tevin Marion, a 29-year-old resident of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, for multiple charges, including failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, which is a third-degree felony in Clinton County. Alongside this, he has also been charged with misdemeanors such as driving without a license, not wearing a seatbelt, and failure to control the vehicle. Marion is also facing a felony failure to comply charge in Knox County. Currently, he is being held in Clinton County Jail.

In addition to the charges related to Tuesday’s pursuit, Marion is also wanted on a felony warrant from another jurisdiction.

The authorities caught his companion, a 38-year-old man from Ft. Lauderdale. However, no charges have been listed against him.
