Alex Daniel Guajardo has been sentenced to two life sentences plus 10 years following a series of tragic events that led to the murder of his pregnant wife, Caitlynne, and their unborn child.

FOX 26 Houston can now be accessed through the FOX LOCAL app on various streaming platforms, including Apple TV, Amazon FireTV, Roku, Google Android TV, Samsung TV, and Vizio.

After the murder, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office arrested Guajardo, who has been in jail ever since. He was charged with additional crimes when authorities discovered makeshift knives in his possession while he was being held.

On Tuesday, the plea agreement was reached, which resulted in the resolution of charges for both murders and possession of a deadly weapon in a penal institution. As a result, he was sentenced to life imprisonment and received additional prison time.

National Domestic Abuse Awareness Month in Houston area starts off with challenges

The systemic failure that led to Caitlynne’s tragic death has left the victim’s family members, including her mother Melanie Infinger, deeply saddened. Infinger, grieving the loss of her daughter, described Caitlynne as a hero for standing up to her assailant, believing that it would be the end of the ordeal. As she mourns her daughter’s passing, Infinger also calls for reforms within the system.

To provide comfort to a grieving family who had suffered tragically as a result of domestic violence, Assistant District Attorney Mary McFaden and ADA Lindsey Bondurant skillfully handled the case.

The sentences for Guajardo will be served at the same time, providing a measure of justice for the devastating loss of Caitlynne and her unborn child.
