According to the NY Post, an elderly Air Force veteran was last year attacked by a vicious dog while he was defending his wife from three hostile American Staffordshire terriers.

The pets’ owners, a couple, have now received hefty prison sentences. According to Yahoo News, Abilene Schnieder received a 15-year sentence and Christian Moreno received an 18-year sentence.

You should learn more about the dogs and their owners if it sounds like a harsh jail term for what might be regarded as basic carelessness.

The San Antonio couple reportedly trained the dogs to be violent by feeding them meat, and it worked. Neighbors had been reporting that the animals were acting dangerously.

The topic of why the couple was still permitted to own the animals was raised after the city neutered the animals after they had attacked two other individuals in two separate incidents.

That is to say, before the fatal mauling, they were known to be dangerous dogs. Without tethers, the animals were kept loose and could readily get out of a fence hole. They killed Ramon Najera, 81, by mauling him and even dragging his body down the street after noticing all these warning signals.

Along with a responding firefighter and a friend of the couple, his wife, Janie, 74, was also seriously hurt in the attack. To protect themselves from the animals, firefighters had to use pickaxes.

Animal services then put the animals to death when they had been restrained. Recently, the pair entered a guilty plea and were sentenced for “attack by dog resulting in death.”

The pair will never be permitted to possess dogs again if they are paroled. It is obvious that they should never have had any pets in the first place.
