An explosion and subsequent fire engulfed a residential property in North Texas during the night, prompting the immediate response of emergency personnel from a total of eight different agencies. The incident occurred in a rural area of Grayson County, near Van Alstyne.

A young neighbor expressed their disbelief at the sight of a house in ruins on their street. They never anticipated such a shocking scene, especially without any prior knowledge of the situation.

CBS News Texas reached out to family members who declined to comment on the tragic fire that claimed two lives.

Mark Anderson, a neighbor who resides behind the couple’s residence along with his wife, attested to hearing the disturbing noise.

According to Weda, the home utilized propane tanks to power its appliances. He suggested that a potential leak could have been the cause of the tragic explosion. The investigation into the incident is currently underway.

A three-car garage, standing resiliently amidst a vast field of debris, was captured in a video by CBS News Texas Chopper. The remnants of the rest of the home were scorched and blackened from the intense fire.

The Van Alstyne Fire Department in Texas called upon several volunteer fire departments from Grayson and Collin counties, including the Gunter volunteer fire department, for mutual aid. Due to the absence of fire hydrants near the home, firefighters had to shuttle water to the scene. In a Facebook post, the Gunter volunteer fire department shared this information.
