Three suspects were taken into custody after allegedly stealing around $5,000 worth of merchandise from a Sunglass Hut at First Colony Mall and leading police on a brief but intense chase.
Sugar Land Police responded to the incident around 4:15 p.m. and quickly identified the suspects’ vehicle. Officers initially detained one suspect, but a passenger jumped into the driver’s seat and fled. Police temporarily lost sight of the vehicle, later finding it abandoned on Highway 6 near Austin Parkway.
With the help of witnesses, officers located and arrested the remaining suspects. All stolen merchandise was recovered, along with other potentially stolen items. The suspects now face charges of felony theft and evading arrest.
