Authorities are investigating after an Indianapolis woman, Tara Capps, 36, was found deceased inside a storage tote in a wooded area a week following her disappearance, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD). Capps’ family received a tip suggesting she might be located behind a food distribution center on South Keystone Avenue. They discovered her body on Sunday during their search.

“It’s hard. I don’t wish this on anybody,” said Virginia Summers, Capps’ mother, to FOX 59. Summers identified her daughter by her fingerprints and expressed disbelief, stating, “She did not deserve it. Anybody that does that is just a monster. It’s just uncalled-for.”

The family remains uncertain how long Capps had been in the woods before she was found. She had been reported missing by her family on June 30. IMPD is treating the case as a homicide investigation and is currently pursuing leads without disclosing details on suspects, motives, or cause of death.

“I just hope they find the people that did this. Nobody deserves to be like this ever,” Summers declared passionately. She vowed to pursue justice tirelessly, stating, “I won’t stop. I don’t care if it’s 10 years or 20 years. I will not stop. Until I die, I won’t stop until we have justice. I will not stop.”

Those with information are encouraged to contact IMPD Detective Jeremy Ingram at 317-327-3475 or email [email protected].
