This morning, a two-car crash on Interstate 5 caused one death and injured several others.
On Saturday, July 5, at 4:52 a.m., two cars collided on I-5 southbound near milepost 11, killing one person.
The freeway was totally closed as authorities redirected traffic off the exit to conduct an investigation. The roadway reopened about 11:00 a.m.
The motorist who caused the crash was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence, vehicular homicide, and vehicular assault. Others involved in the collision were injured, although their situations have not been revealed.
While the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) was on the scene assisting with traffic control, a male motorist in a Rivian vehicle collided with the back of a WSDOT truck at 7:14 a.m.
The worker involved was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities stated that further information will be given as the investigation continues.
