In a media release on Wednesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared his plan to deploy state-issued firefighting resources across the state to tackle the growing threat of wildfires.

The Texas A&M Forest Service has forecasted heightened wildfire activity in the northern and western parts of the state, given the parched state and soaring temperatures of these areas. Consequently, the Wildland Preparedness Level has been elevated to a Level 2 distinction by the A&M Forest Service to brace for the impending situation.

In a statement, Governor Abbott expressed his readiness to provide support to local officials and communities across Texas in anticipation of the increasing threat of wildfires in the coming days. He mentioned that the state is sending over 200 personnel, including firefighters and support staff, along with tactical resources such as fire engines, all-terrain vehicles, and bulldozers to offer on-site assistance.

Texas has witnessed over 35 wildfires in the past week, which have scorched more than 3,000 acres of land.

Texans are being urged to limit activities that could cause sparks and follow instructions from local officials to prevent the spread of wildfires. The official press release recommends checking the Texas A&M Forest Service website for more information here.
