The westward winds are expected to maintain speeds ranging from 15 to 20 mph, while the relative humidity is anticipated to drop to as low as 16 to 20 percent. The possibility of wind gusts reaching 25 mph is also a concern.
The NWS office in North Platte, Nebraska, also issued a red flag warning during the same time period. The warning explicitly mentioned that there was no expectation of lightning, which can potentially ignite a wildfire.
