In Oklahoma City, the clerk locked two men inside a convenience store while they attempted to steal from it.
Around 10:50 p.m. on Sunday, officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department were dispatched to the store near 106 N Western Ave in response to a report of shoplifting.
The call notes indicated that the clerk had locked two subjects inside the store while they attempted to steal items and fought him.
When officers arrived, they identified the suspects as Shannon Barnes and Messiah Shanks.
According to a police report, authorities ordered the suspects to lie on the ground, which they did, and they were arrested.
Officers reportedly discovered a pocketknife in Barnes’ pocket.
Police officers on the scene analyzed video footage of the event. The video captured Barnes and Shanks entering the business and asking the cashier for a vape to purchase.
Barnes apparently took the vaporizer from the clerk’s hands. The suspects took bags of chips and drinks and attempted to leave the store, but the clerk had already locked the door.
The film, according to the officers, showed Barnes walking behind the counter before the clerk forced him away.
According to officials, Barnes then brandished a pocketknife and threatened the shopkeeper, instructing him not to contact the police, as documented in the 911 call recording.
Allegations of joint robbery and receiving, possessing, or concealing stolen goods led to Shanks’ arrest.
Barnes was arrested for robbery or attempting to steal a dangerous weapon.
