On Monday morning, a shooting incident at Wal-Mart left an African-American man injured.

Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford reported that officers from the SPD and deputies from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 1500 block of Hwy 14 East following a report of a person with a firearm.

According to Fulford, as soon as the officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a Black male individual holding a weapon in the parking lot. The individual proceeded to aim the weapon at the officers, and in response, the officers fired their weapons, striking the individual.

According to Fulford, there were no injuries sustained by any officers during the incident. The victim, however, was taken to the emergency room at Vaughan Regional Medical Center for treatment. The case is being handled by the State Bureau of Investigations.

The case is still under investigation and no additional details have been released yet, as stated by Fulford. If you have any information that can assist with the investigation, please contact the SBI at (334) 676-6000.

The Selma Times‑Journal reported that a shooting incident took place on Monday morning at Walmart, resulting in a man being shot.
