In an exclusive interview with FOX 26, the family of the victim, who was tragically shot and killed on Highway 288, is seeking justice for their beloved. Gregory Elias Rodriguez, aged 55, has been charged with multiple offenses in connection with the incident.

Charges have been filed against Gregory Elias Rodriguez, the 55-year-old man accused of shooting and killing Frederick Nealey, a 57-year-old man on State Highway 288. Rodriguez is facing murder charges and multiple other charges for Monday’s shooting, as confirmed by the victim’s family.

Nealey’s brother and sister-in-law described him as a fun-loving and vibrant individual. They fondly remembered him as a great guy, highlighting his lively and energetic personality.

Nealey was discovered fatally shot on State Highway 288. According to witnesses, the suspect pursued and fired at Nealey, and subsequently engaged in a short foot pursuit with the police before being apprehended.

“I don’t know what their motive was. They didn’t say anything, but he certainly didn’t deserve that,” expressed Alton Nealey, Fred’s brother.

The man responsible for Nealey’s death has been identified as Gregory Elias Rodriguez, a 55-year-old individual. Rodriguez is currently facing several charges, including murder, unlawful carrying of a weapon as a felon, and possession of a controlled substance. It is important to note that Rodriguez has a prior criminal record, specifically in aggravated robbery dating back to 1988.

Alton Nealey expressed his opinion on the act of shooting a man in the back, stating that it is an act of cowardice.

Nealey’s family is still in mourning and advocating for an end to gun violence.

“I really hope that people would take a moment to consider the consequences before resorting to violence or making impulsive decisions. The repercussions of such actions can be devastating, leading to a lifetime of suffering or imprisonment,” expressed Tyrisha Brooks, who happens to be Fred’s sister-in-law.

Alton Nealey expressed that his brother was not a troublemaker and had a genuine love for everyone. He had a generous and selfless nature, always willing to help others.

He is now fondly remembered as a compassionate, witty, and deeply religious individual.

“He was always the epitome of happiness and carefree spirit. That was Fred, a genuinely humorous individual. It’s hard to imagine that his life would come to such a tragic end,” expressed Brooks.

Alton Nealey expressed his hope for the suspect to receive the appropriate punishment for the murder of his brother.

Rodriguez is currently incarcerated and awaiting a bond hearing scheduled for Friday.
