According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), a man wanted for armed robbery in Mississippi was apprehended after a foot chase early Sunday morning. Deputies successfully arrested the suspect in Beaverton, Oregon.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) made an effort to pull over a vehicle around Southwest Meadow Drive and Southwest Walton Court in Beaverton shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Sunday. However, the driver refused to cooperate and eventually abandoned their car, fleeing on foot.
Lamarcus Thomas, a 31-year-old man from Mississippi, was pursued by deputies who noticed he was carrying a firearm.
Thomas eventually gave up and surrendered when he ran into a marsh and got stuck in mud and high water. Deputies discovered a significant amount of money on Thomas, but they did not find the gun he had been carrying.
During the search of the area, a K9 was able to locate the gun. The gun was found to have an extended 30 round magazine in it.
Following the arrest, authorities discovered that Thomas had an active warrant in Mississippi for armed robbery.
The suspect faced multiple charges when he was taken into custody and placed in Washington County jail. These charges included trying to evade a police officer, possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), and also having a warrant for armed robbery.
