Early Tuesday morning, a woman lost her life following a shooting that occurred during a fight at a gas station located in the northwest side of Indianapolis. The incident is currently under investigation.

Tyreana Terrell, who was only 21 years old, has been identified by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

Early Tuesday morning, just after midnight on Monday, a report of a person shot led the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers to the Marathon gas station at 4720 W. 56th St. This information was obtained from online police reports.

The intersection of West 56th Street and Georgetown Road is situated in a bustling business area, complete with gas stations, restaurants, and pharmacies.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officials discovered that Terrell had sustained a gunshot wound. According to a subsequent update from IMPD, Terrell was initially conscious and breathing, but she ultimately passed away at a hospital sometime after the incident.

According to investigators, it is believed that Terrell was engaged in a physical altercation with another individual prior to the shooting. However, it has not been disclosed if the other individual sustained any injuries or their identity.

News 8 reached out to IMPD for information regarding a possible suspect or person of interest in custody, but they declined to provide any details.

If you have any information regarding the altercation, please don’t hesitate to contact Detective Sara Didandeh at the IMPD Homicide Office through phone at 317-327-3475 or via email at [email protected],
