Pennsylvania State Police are currently conducting an investigation after discovering half a kilo of cocaine in a residence in Chambersburg, Franklin County.
According to an affidavit, a package that was being sent from Puerto Rico to a residence on Powell Drive in the 2000 block was seized in the mail in January.
Upon inspection, authorities discovered a package containing 510 grams of a compressed white substance, later confirmed to be cocaine.
On January 31, officials witnessed 48-year-old Vilmarie Agosto-Romero bringing the delivered parcel into the Chambersburg home.
Agosto-Romero allegedly informed state police during the search of her home on that day that the package was located in her bedroom closet.
According to an affidavit, the individual mentioned that this was the second instance of receiving a package like this from a friend in Puerto Rico. They expressed their belief that the package might contain illegal drugs.
During the investigation, authorities conducted a search of Agosto-Romero’s phone and discovered images of the package in question. According to reports, she informed the police that someone was scheduled to collect it.
Agosto-Romero faces charges for manufacturing, delivering, and possessing drugs with the intent to distribute them, as well as for the criminal use of a communication facility.
