A 74-year-old man named John Dominick Bromley has been arraigned in Otsego County on charges of aggravated domestic violence and first-degree vulnerable adult abuse. In addition to these charges, he is also facing allegations of impersonating a police officer in Grand Traverse County.

What To Know

In June, troopers from the Michigan State Police were summoned to investigate a cabin where two individuals were found squatting.

According to the police, Bromley and his 68-year-old wife, who were homeless, had been residing in the house without authorization. The troopers observed that the woman had significant bruising and was experiencing breathing difficulties. As a result of the severity of her injuries, she was initially taken to Otsego Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Michigan State Police reported that Bromley attempted to gain entry into the morgue where his wife’s body was being held by impersonating a trooper. However, he was denied access.

After conducting a thorough investigation, authorities referred the case to the Otsego County Prosecutor’s Office. Subsequently, a warrant for Bromley’s arrest was issued in the previous month. During a routine traffic stop in Oakland County, he was apprehended for alleged speeding and subsequently taken into custody on Sunday. Bromley was then booked into the Otsego County Jail.

In Michigan, assault is legally defined as the intentional act of attempting to cause physical harm to someone else or making a credible threat to do so, while also having the means to carry out the attack.
