Texas Councilman Charged With Running Drug Operation From Tire Shop

Texans should be well aware by now that if they engage in criminal activities in the Lone Star State, they will undoubtedly face the repercussions.

My San Antonio reported that a City Councilman in South Texas faced accusations of selling cocaine from his own business.

Law enforcement authorities in the Rio Grande Valley have arrested Sullivan City councilmember Ruben Villalon and Jose Alonso Galaviz for their alleged involvement in the manufacturing and delivery of narcotics. Additionally, Ricardo Rodriguez was also apprehended on charges of marijuana possession and aggravated assault.

On January 31st, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at two locations as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

Undercover Narcotics Investigator Used

In August, law enforcement conducted surveillance on Ruben’s Tire Shop. During the operation, an undercover investigator bought $10 worth of cocaine, weighing 0.4 grams, from Galaviz.

In that same month, the informant made another purchase from Galaviz.

Texas City Councilman Got Involved Selling Drugs

In October, the informant returned to the tire shop and bought an item worth $20 from Villalon.

In November, the councilman was involved in another drug purchase.

During the execution of the search warrants, authorities discovered a total of 13 baggies of cocaine at the tire shop. Furthermore, additional cocaine was also found at Villalon’s residence, resulting in a seizure of 5.65 grams in total.

Villalon was taken into custody by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office and was later released from jail the following day after posting a $100,000 bond.

Galaviz and Rodriguez are currently under police custody.
