A powerful weather system is expected to sweep through the Great Lakes, bringing with it severe thunderstorms, strong winds, and snowfall to northern Ohio and western Pennsylvania until Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Cleveland, there will be scattered strong storms in the afternoon and evening. The highest risk area extends from eastern Ohio to western Pennsylvania. Some of these storms may become severe, with the potential for damaging winds exceeding 40 mph, heavy rainfall, and isolated tornadoes. This storm threat is expected to persist from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday before transitioning to wintry weather overnight.

NWS Pittsburgh is also cautioning about the potential for severe storms today, particularly in areas along an eastward-moving cold front. There is a slight risk of large hail and damaging winds, with higher chances occurring in eastern parts of Pennsylvania.

Rain is forecasted to transition into snow by late Wednesday night, specifically in the snowbelt of northeast Ohio and the higher elevations of western Pennsylvania. There is a possibility of receiving 2 to 3 inches of snow by Thursday morning, which may cause slight disruptions to travel.

Stay vigilant and keep an eye on the weather, as conditions may change. Make sure to stay updated and be prepared for any advisories that may come your way.
