According to Simple Flying, there were over 2,000 recorded incidents of unruly passengers in 2024. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has reported that the number of these incidents has stabilized after a significant increase in 2021.

What To Know

According to Arizona news broadcaster 12news, a passenger on Southwest Airlines flight WN733 caused a commotion as the plane was taxiing away from the gate at William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas. The passenger undressed herself and demanded to be let off the plane.

Passenger accounts indicate that she allegedly used profanity towards the flight crew and made attempts to gain access to the cockpit.

Law enforcement took the woman away for a medical evaluation after the pilot returned to the gate where the plane had initially departed from.

What People Are Saying

A concerned passenger, who preferred to remain anonymous, shared their experience saying, “The woman then made her way towards the front of the plane and began banging on the cockpit door, pleading to be let in while screaming. It was truly terrifying when it first occurred.”

Southwest Airlines expressed their apology to customers for the inconvenience caused by travel delays and acknowledged their patience during the efforts made by their teams to ensure a swift resolution to get them to their destinations.

What Happens Next

The woman was not charged, and it remains unclear what the outcome of her medical evaluation was.
