New information is emerging in the abduction of two young girls, which prompted an AMBER Alert on Monday and resulted in the arrest of one suspect.
Scott Young and Leigh Sanford allegedly kidnapped one-year-old Aspen Johnson and 11-year-old Kaudrie Grant after assaulting a Texas Department of Family and Protective Services employee, prompting the alert.
The alleged assault occurred when a CPS official went to see the children for a wellness check. Young reportedly assaulted the employee. Following the assault, Young and Sanford fled the scene in separate vehicles, each carrying one of the children.
On Tuesday morning, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and a local law enforcement officer spotted and stopped one of the vehicles near Oklahoma City. Both children were safely retrieved, and Young was brought into custody without incident.
Authorities did not immediately offer information regarding Sanford’s location. The inquiry into the case is ongoing.
