Tashod Miller, 33, of Indiana, has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Thomas Barber for trafficking a large amount of fentanyl in southwest Florida. Miller pleaded guilty to the allegation on February 4, 2025.
According to court documents released by the United States Attorney’s Office, Miller went from Indiana to Florida with more than 11,000 fentanyl tablets hidden in his checked luggage. He intended to sell the narcotics for $15,000.
Miller met with an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent at a local hotel, which disrupted the operation. During the meeting, Miller handed over the fentanyl pills, prompting his arrest.
Further investigation revealed that Miller had already received a drug conviction. Following his arrest, he admitted to supplying fentanyl for almost a year.
The DEA conducted the investigation, emphasizing ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of lethal opioids in the region. Benjamin S. Winter, an Assistant United States Attorney, prosecuted the case.
