On Friday evening, an attempted murder-suicide in southern Indiana near the Indiana-Kentucky border resulted in the death of a man and a woman. Additionally, another man was shot in the arm during the incident. The tragic event occurred in Laconia, Indiana.

According to Indiana State Police, Donald Weaver, 84, and Virginia Scofield, 82, were identified as the two individuals who lost their lives in the incident. Marion Young, 56, was the third person involved and was taken to the hospital for medical attention.

According to the police, it has been confirmed that Young was Scofield’s son. However, the exact relationship between Weaver and the other two has not been disclosed yet.

According to state police, an investigation was launched into a shooting incident in the 3000 block of Mosquito Creek Road at approximately 6 p.m. on Friday. The location of the incident is in the southern part of Harrison County, close to Laconia, which is situated along the border of Indiana and Kentucky. Troopers and Harrison County law enforcement were deployed to the scene to conduct the investigation.

Upon their arrival, Marion Young was discovered at a neighbor’s residence, where she had sought refuge after being shot in the arm. Fortunately, her condition was deemed non-life-threatening.

When the shooting incident occurred, Harrison County officers attempted to reach out to other individuals present in the house, but failed to receive any response. Afterward, they discovered Weaver and Scofield lying outside the back door.

The scene confirmed that both individuals had passed away.

According to the police, additional gunshots were heard from the house after Young had fled to the neighbor’s residence. It is believed that during this time, Scofield was fatally shot, and Weaver subsequently took his own life.

According to the Indiana State Police, the detectives are currently in the process of collecting information regarding the shooting incident and the initial argument.
