Alec Campbell, a 38-year-old Pennsylvania park ranger, went missing on May 23 while kayaking in Tyler State Park. He was discovered dead two days later.

Alec Campbell, a 38-year-old Pennsylvania park ranger who went missing while kayaking in the Neshaminy Creek in Tyler State Park, has been found dead, writes Abigail Adams for People.

Campbell disappeared on Friday, May 23. Two days later, authorities announced that his body had been recovered. The Bucks County Coroner’s Office will establish the official cause of death.

A GoFundMe page has been launched for his wife, Rena, and their two sons, Calder, 8, and Miles, 5.

“Alec was a bright and energetic light to all,” wrote Haley Richter, the online fundraiser organizer. She called Campbell “a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend to his family and community.”

Ryan Campbell’s friend, Andrew Chudd, commented on Facebook that the late park ranger was “a tremendous outdoorsman, smart, clever, kind, and radiant.”

Campbell was “a dedicated member of our Pennsylvania state park staff,” said Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn. “Alec’s commitment and passion touched many lives, and his loss is felt deeply across our entire community.”

On May 27, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro ordered that flags be flown at half-staff in honor of the park ranger.
