Fortunately, there were no reported injuries after an Xcel Energy truck smashed through the front of an art business in Northeast Minneapolis earlier today.

Jeffrey Siegel, the owner of Supply Studio, was inside the building when a work truck crashed into the front side of the establishment. The incident occurred at approximately noon, just as Siegel was preparing to leave for lunch. The truck plowed through the wall only a few feet away from where he was standing. Siegel had a chance to speak with the driver following the collision.

According to Siegel, “He’s alright, just a bit disoriented. The positive aspect is that he didn’t sustain any injuries.”

According to co-owner Jerri Summerville, the driver reported to the police that he had over-corrected and unintentionally caused the crash.

According to Summerville, the reason why he had a giant truck was that he was overcompensating, as stated by the driver himself. He ended up hitting a concrete structure with a light on it, which caused him to collide into the building.

Xcel Energy and the police are jointly investigating the factors that led to the occurrence of the crash. According to Summerville, the next step involves a significant amount of cleanup.

In an interview with WCCO Radio, Summerville expressed that the person involved in the incident is doing fine. However, the main concern now is the safety of the building. The beams are still falling, but the team is working on finding a solution, such as using an I-beam or shoring it up to stabilize the structure. The ultimate goal is to restore the building to its former state.

A single lane is all that remains in the area where the accident occurred on Hennepin Avenue. The crash took place within this restricted stretch.
