ICE apprehended 3 in Northern Virginia amid heightened crackdown on immigration

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), three undocumented immigrants were apprehended in Northern Virginia last week as part of a significant operation targeting individuals who are in the United States unlawfully.

On February 19, ICE officials, along with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, apprehended three undocumented immigrants in Sterling, Virginia for reportedly violating U.S. immigration laws.

According to Russ Hott, the Washington, D.C. Field Office Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, these three fugitives were found to be in the Northern Virginia area illegally, which is a direct violation of U.S. immigration laws.

President Trump’s strict immigration policies have instilled a sense of fear within numerous communities residing in the United States. In a previous interview with 7News, Alexander Juarez Cabrera, a beneficiary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, expressed his apprehension about the uncertain future that lies ahead.

“I came to the U.S. at the age of 15,” Cabrera shared with 7News’ Lianna Golden as they stood outside his Arlington apartment complex.

In 2014, Cabrera’s life underwent a significant transformation when he was granted approval for DACA.

“I’ve been approved since 2014, so it’s been 11 years now. It completely transformed my life,” Cabrera exclaimed. “I was finally able to purchase a car, obtain a driver’s license, and even launch my own business. Granted, it’s a small one, but it’s a start.”

Cabrera takes great pride in his work as a landscaper and the journey he has embarked on.

Cabrera expressed her deep attachment to the community, stating, “Most of my life is centered here. This place is like my home.”

With President Trump threatening to end DACA and implementing stricter immigration enforcement measures across the country, individuals like him fear that their current home may not remain so for much longer.
